Rashtriya Indian Military College in the short RIMC entrance exam is conducted by Indian Military College on an Indian basis twice a year for providing admission to boys In RIMC Dehradun and inter-service institutions. The primary aim of this institution is to prepare boys for entry into defense services and to provide quality education to young boys. Every six months, 25 cadets are admitted.

Eligibility criteria for the RIMC entrance exam

The appearing student either is studying or passed class 7 from any recognized school.  As per as the age limit is concerned the candidate should not be less than 11.5 years of age but should not attain the age of 13 years as of 1st January of the respective year.

Syllabus of RIMC entrance exam

Generally, the RIMC entrance exam consists of questions from the basic syllabus till the 7th class. RIMC entrance exam cover questions of English, Mathematics, and General knowledge.

Pattern of the RIMC entrance exam

RIMC entrance exam consists of 3 rounds:

  1. Written examination: The written part of the examination consists of three subjects as mentioned above English, Maths, and General knowledge. From English 125 marks, from Math 200 marks, and General Knowledge 75 marks are conducted. Math and General Knowledge papers may be answered either in Hindi or in English. To qualify, a candidate must obtain a minimum of 50% marks in each subject.
  2. Viva examination: The oral examination consists of a Viva test of 50 marks, which is designed to access a candidate’s intelligence, personality, and confidence. The minimum passing mark is 50%.
  3. Medical examination: All the candidates qualified after the interview will undergo a medical examination at a selected Military Hospital and only those candidates found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to the RIMC. Medical examination of the candidates forms only a part of the system of selection and does not guarantee the final selection.

How to apply for the RIMC entrance exam?

 First of all, you need to get the prospectus of RIMC comprised of the application form and instructions to fill the application form. To get that prospectus, you have to send the self-addressed slip and account pay bank demand draft along with your caste certificate through speed post on

Fee structure of RIMC entrance exam

The fee for this exam is Rs 600 for general candidates and Rs 555 for SC and ST candidates. Candidates have to pay the prospectus cum application form fee by demand draft.
